Event Highlight: Permaculture- Harmony with nature

Attendees braved wet roads and a cold night to join EWHA in this two-part night at the Postmaster Hotel, Kew.

After a quick welcome from EWHA President Emma, the 2022 AGM was held. As always, the AGM included important official proposals, but also offered the Committee and members a chance to reflect on the year past; events held, awards presented and how the organisation has been impacted by the pandemic. Ideas about EWHA’s future were shared and a slightly different looking committee was elected.

Following a delicious dinner, it was time for the main event. Permaculture practitioner and teacher, Beck Lowe shared her Permaculture journey with attendees, speaking of her influences and inspirations. Her talk was also an introduction to Permaculture, an exploration of the many facets of life that Permaculture encompass and a chance to broaden everyone’s idea of what Permaculture is, and looks like. Beck finished her talk with a Q and A session that became more of a conversation and collaboration of ideas between everyone in the room, a heartwarming reminder of what EWHA strives for.

The conversations continued over dessert and the Committee handed out lucky door prizes, concluding a wonderful night.

Encouraging Women in Horticulture would like to thank Beck Lowe for her presentation and Diggers Club for sponsoring the event.
