Our event at Established Tree Transplanters gave our attendees a peak behind the scenes at this unique nursery where 80% of the trees are grown in the ground at either their Hoddles Creek site or in Echuca.
We learned that there is a big difference in growing in the ground as opposed to in a pot with potting mix. The trees develop a stronger root system, a more natural branch structure and suffer less transplant shock at time of planting.
Ben, Prue and Eboni showed us around the nursery where we got to see recently dug up trees potted up ready for sale, trees in situ and a demonstration of the way the trees are dug up and wrapped in hessian and wire basket for protection and transport.
